My Writings

I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was in the first grade and wrote my first book “How the Pig Got It’s Curly Tail”. It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I have started to write my first book. It is a fiction book but those that know me will quickly realize that there are some characters and places loosely based on my life. For example, I grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn but later on moved to Queens. The story, although it may appear autobiographical is really a creation from my imagination. The characters are a combination of a number of different people that I have come across throughout my life and should not be perceived as actual people in my life. They are truly one of a kind.

The novel is still untitled but the premise of the story focuses on unconditional love. The unconditional love between two sisters. The story will take you through their childhood years growing up in the 80′s in  drug ridden Williamsburg, Brooklyn to their adolescent years when their parents moved to Queens in hopes for providing a better environment  for them to grow up in, and into their early adult years where they struggle with love, boyfriends, and friendships.

Throughout their lives Natalie and Danielle were always the envy of the neighborhood. Their parents were still together (which was virtually unheard of at that time), their dad always had a brand new car, and they were given the best of everything. Whether it was toys, clothes, or jewelry, these girls always got what they wanted. Their parents were able to shower them with luxuries that the families of their friends couldn’t. On the outside looking in, Natalie and Danielle appear to have it all. But as with most things in life appearances can be deceiving. These two sisters experience highs and lows and soon discover that their “so-called” perfect life really isn’t so perfect.

Their partying mother abandons them to live the “single life” she missed out on. Their dad is forced into the role of being both mom and dad and quickly realizes that this is no easy feat especially when raising 2 teenage girls. His protective and overbearing ways results in Natalie rebeling.  Despite all of the challenges and adversity that the sisters face, one thing remains constant, they are always there for each other. They help each other through the most difficult times in their lives and in the end both become stronger because of it.

The bond between these two sisters is a testament to the love  and admiration they have for each other. Anyone that has siblings knows that as long as you have your brother or sister you have a best friend for life.

Chapter 1: Little Sisters

It was a hot summer day in August. The sun was cooking my skin and I felt like a pig that was being roasted for Christmas dinner. Little droplets of sweat where beginning to form on my forehead not so much from the temperature but from my nerves and feelings of fear [...]
